Welcome to Room 6

In the spirit of introductions, it's only fitting for me to give you a little tour of my home away from home {aka: the classroom}. I call it my home away from home for one very simple reason: I spend more waking hours within these four walls than I do in my actual home. By the time I walk in the door, I'm lucky if I'm awake for 4 more hours...and that's being generous people. It's something about 18 six year olds and the 2,000 questions they ask on a daily basis that can just tire a girl right out. But I digress...On with the tour!

As with most home tours, I must give you the general basic disclaimer: excuse the mess. Let's just be honest, things never look the same as they do on the first day of school.

...my teacher desk {aka:the kid free zone}...

...our guided reading and
 small group area...

...class bathroom, sink and student mailboxes...

...my closet and cubbies {on the back side of the shelving}...

...student library on one side and pocket centers on the other...

...sight word wall, computer and listening stations, vocabulary/focus wall for science & social studies and our Imagine It! sound/spelling alphabet cards...

...the front of our classroom...
{our reading themed board on the right, carpet area and common board on the left}
{Learning goals + objectives+ essential questions= Common Board}

Yes. You see snowflakes hanging from the ceiling. I know it's February in Florida. Don't judge.

...our common board features essential questions created by Anna Brantley from the A-MAZ-ING blog Crazy for First Grade. Her creations are always so cute- LOVE HER! You should check her out! If you've never visited her blog, don't walk, run there. now.
...coming full circle {viewpoint from the carpet area}...

...our writing center, synonym wall and on the right cabinet are Cara's schedule cards...

Well ladies and gentlemen, that concludes our tour of Room 6. If you've stuck around to this point- bless you. Thanks for coming along!
